AMA Superbike Racer Larry Pegram Larry Pegram announced Friday he’ll be competing in the 2010 AMA Pro Racing American Superbike series with Team Foremost Insurance/Pegram Racing Ducati.

In the 2009 AMA American Superbike season, Pegram, who owns the team and pilots the Ducati 1098R, beat out the retired Mat Mladin for a win at Road America and swept both races at Heartland Park in Topeka (which is no longer in the series due to safety concerns).

Due to these wins and gaining points in every race except Fontana where he was injured in a first-lap pileup, Pegram finished the 2009 season fourth in final point standings.

“I am really looking forward to the start of the season,” the 36-year old said. “Last year we received Factory support from Ducati North America and that was a great launch pad. This year will be even better. I am fortunate to have solid backing and a great team. In our first season with the Ducati 1098 R the bike never missed a beat. I am very confident with my team and equipment and every time I ride the bike I get faster on it so we are going to make a big push to win the championship this year”.

Pegram said the team has even stronger support from title-sponsor Foremost Insurance and Ducati North America for 2010, so he’s hoping to chase down the American Superbike Championship title.

The 2010 AMA Superbike season begins at Daytona March 3-5; new for this year at the season opener will be two-15 lap American Superbike races.
