World Superbike: Nürburgring the objective for Ruben Xaus
World Superbike Press Release

The physical recovery of Spanish rider Ruben Xaus is proceeding in a determined and measurable way. The BMW Motorrad Motorsport competitor suffered a fracture of the right femur during the Brno race in July. At that time Xaus went back home to Spain almost immediately and was operated on at the Medical Centre Teknon in Barcelona on Monday 27th July, having three 10 cm long pins inserted along the bone.
Discharged from hospital the very next day, Xaus has spent the month of August undergoing rehabilitation (swimming and static bicycle riding), to maintain his muscle tone. Now Ruben waits for the OK from the doctors who operated on him in order to participate at the Nürburgring next Sunday, with Professor Miquel Llovet, who carried out Xaus’ operation, giving a definitive response later today - 31 August.
“The rehabilitation has gone very well,” said Xaus. “So much so that the muscular tone of the right leg is even better than that of the left. I feel well and if you had only to take notice of my feelings I would go to the Nürburgring. But before that I want to know if the fracture has knit together completely, because I want to go to the track in the proper condition. For an accident of this sort they want almost three months off normally. After only a month I hope to return to racing, therefore all the precautions have to be taken care of. I want to be to 100% in order to take advantage of the increasing potential of our machine, which has grown a lot thanks to the great job put in by everyone. Today I will be visited by Professor Llovet, who operated on me. We will decide what to do then.”
