The World Superbike grid will have one extra rider when the season kicks of on February 24th at Phillip Island. South Australian David Johnson will be making a wildcard appearance with the Rossair AEP Racing team.
Johnson will be racing a BMW S 1000 RR when he makes his appearance at Phillip Island. Johnson will get a chance to test the bike during a testing session at the Australian circuit at the January.
"My primary goal at the world supers is to try and get into the points in both races," said Johnson. "I'd love to be the first Aussie home, too. I'm familiar with the S 1000 RR, I've assembled a strong team to help me out, and I know Phillip Island like the back of my hand, so I am confident of making a strong impression. Troy Corser and Steve Martin, who are real BMW experts, have also offered to help me out over the weekend, which will be a great help."
