The Ducati Roma has a lot to accomplish to get ready for their first season in the World Superbike class. Niccolo Canepa and the Rome based outfit took to the track last for a one day session at Vallelunga.
Canepa worked to improve the electronics package and chassis on the Ducati 1198 during his brief testing session.
"Unfortunately we didn't have much time available and there were some other bikes on the track in the afternoon so I couldn't push as hard as I would have liked," said Canepa. "I made the best use of the day however to work on suspension settings and the electronics of my Ducati, continuing what we had begun at Misano. Of course we'll have to do more testing to get ready for the start of the season and I know the team is working with this aim in mind. I've got a great rapport with the team and our Ducati is improving all the time. A big thanks to all our fans and sponsors who came to Vallelunga, we'll do our best not to disappoint them."
Canepa was joined on the track by Andrzej Chmielewski, who will be racing with the Ducati Roma team in the 2012 Superstock 1000 FIM Cup.
Chmielewski raced in the European Superstock 600 Championship in 2009, but he hasn't raced competitively since then.
"It was my first time with the Ducati Roma team and my new bike," Chmielewski said. "I'm very happy and honoured to form part of this team, which has already shown itself to be professional and competent. I've been out of action for two years and so for sure I'll need some more time to become competitive again. The Ducati is powerful and fantastic to ride. I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves a lot next year in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup and I'd like to thank Andrea Petricca for giving me this opportunity."
