Leon Camier will get his first taste of life with Suzuki next week during a testing session at Portimao. Camier joined the Crescent Suzuki team last week and is excited to test out the 2012 Suzuki.
This will be Camier's first outing with the Crescent Suzuki team as they prepare for the 2012 World Superbike championship, and Camier will have plenty to test. Not only will Camier be looking at different chassis set-ups, he'll also be running several engines from Crescent and new partner Yoshimura.
Camier raced at Portimao less than six weeks ago, so he should be able to focus on building a good foundation for the 2012 season.
"I'm very excited to get out on the bike," Camier said. "There is a lot to test on the Crescent Suzuki and I'll be getting to know the team. My focus will initially not be solely on lap times; at the minute it's more about getting comfortable with the bike and having a good platform for the next test."
Camier will be joining American John Hopkins on the Crescent Suzuki team, but Hopkins will not be at the test this Monday. Alastair Seeley will be filling in as Hopkins is still recovering from a finger injury.
"I'm really excited about testing with Crescent Suzuki," Seeley said. "It's always interesting to see how things work with another team, plus it will be great to be back on a superbike after a year in a different class."
Crescent Suzuki Team Manager Jack Valentine added: "I'm really looking forward to getting Leon on the bike. We'll be aiming to get a good chassis set-up for him, and if he clicks with the bike early on - then we'll be looking at lap times. But my primary aim is to get Leon comfortable on the bike so he can head into the winter testing break with a good feeling."
