Max Biaggi will have a new partner next year when Eugene Laverty joins the factory Aprilia team.
Laverty, who finished fourth this season, has signed on to race with the Aprilia team for the next two seasons.
The Laverty-Aprilia contract has just been finalized, but Laverty has already had the chance to test out the 2012 machinery. Laverty set the fastest time during the one day test at Portimao last week.
"That felt pretty good," Laverty said. When I first rode it, it felt small and I noticed how much I could move around the bike. We had to make some changes, from the base setting that Aprilia has... but by the end we had all but fixed all the problems we had."
