Carlos Checa will be starting from the front row during the World Superbike race tomorrow at Silverstone. The Althea Ducati rider earned a fourth place finish behind John Hopkins, Eugene Laverty, and Leon Camier.
"I think it has been a positive day, after a solid weekend's work.," Checa said. "It's actually going better than we expected and I'm satisfied with the progress we've made, with our rhythm and with the tire performance."
Checa was skeptic heading into the Silverstone round, saying that the British circuit wasn't ideal for his Ducati. But the World Superbike points leader's attitude seems to have changed after a successful superpole session.
"I believe we have strong race pace and can fight for the podium," Checa said. "I think we'll be seeing some different frontrunners tomorrow, as we've seen for example that Laverty and Camier are really strong here, so I'm looking forward to two great, but tough races."
