Jakub Smrz was the quickest today in front of his home crowd at BRNO during the morning free practice session for the World Superbike riders. Smrz edged out Max Biaggi to take the top spot during FP1.
Smrz set a 2’00.2 second lap time around the BRNO circuit. Biaggi was just .17 seconds behind to claim the second place spot.
Marco Melandri finished third ahead of Michel Fabrizio, Sylvain Guintoli, and Leon Camier, before season leader Carlos Checa crossed the line in 7th.
James Toseland made his return to racing this weekend, but could only muster an 18th place finish.
