Jonathan Rea will not be racing this weekend at Aragon. Rea suffered a crash during a warm-up session at Misano and will not be fit to race this weekend.
Rea suffered fractures to his left collarbone and right arm during the crash. Rea was taken to a hospital in Cesena after the crash where doctors confirmed that Rea had fractured his arm and collarbone. The Castrol Honda rider has made a statement saying that he will not race this weekend in Spain.
"Well, the weekend just went from bad to worse," Rea said. "I had a crash on Saturday which needed some stitches in my arm and then a 230kph crash in the warm-up at one of the fastest corners on the calendar.”
Rea is hopeful, however, that he will be back to race at BRNO. The World Superbike riders have a week off before the BRNO event, which may give Rea enough time to recover.
“Of course, I'm frustrated and I have some injuries that I want to take time to heal properly,” Rea continued. “We'll have to miss Aragon next week, unfortunately, but Brno is a month off and the doctors tell me that the break in my arm would normally keep someone off work for three weeks.
“I'll try to come back for Brno at 100% as it's a circuit that suits me and the bike. I got my first world championship win there and we went 1-2 last year. Thanks to everyone for all the messages of support, it really means a lot and I'm sure it'll speed up the recovery."
Rea has earned two podium finishes during the 2011 World Superbike season and currently sits in 8th place in the overall standings.
