BMW rider James Toseland will not be racing this weekend at Misano. After a vist to the surgeon, Toseland and the BMW team decided that it was best for Toseland to rest for the next two World Superbike events. Lorenzo Lanzi will race in Toseland's place this weekend.
"I'm gutted to have to miss more racing," said Toseland. "But I have to do what the surgeon tells me because doing it my own way and forcing myself to ride through the pain obviously isn't working. Watching the guys at the TT doesn't help because it makes me want to push myself even harder than usual, but I have to be grateful that I got great treatment and focus on returning to racing when I'm fully fit. I'm lucky to be surrounded by a supportive team, family, friends and fans and I'm doing everything I can to aid my recovery."
Toseland broke his wrest during a testing session at Aragon. Toseland tried to race at Miller Motorsports Park, but could only compete in the first race. The strain of riding caused excessive swelling and forced him to sit out of race two.
Lanzi will be taking Toseland's place until he is fit to race, which both Toseland and BMW expect to be at BRNO.
