Max Biaggi climbed up to the podium at Miller Motorsports Park, but the 2010 World Superbike champion has yet to find a win this season. Biaggi will have another shot at victory this weekend as the World Superbike riders head to Misano for the 6th round of the season.
"Unfortunately I came away from Miller with one more race gone and quite a few blows,” Biaggi said. “After the crash (in race one) Rea's bike hit me rather hard. I was able to finish race two but at the end of the day I was really exhausted. Despite all that I want to do well at Misano.
Biaggi dropped down to third in the World Superbike championship standings behind Marco Meldandri after the round in the United States. As we approach the half way mark of the 2010 season, Biaggi will have to start finding his winning stride if he wants to catch up to Carlos Checa, who has 6 wins so far this season.
The Roman Emperor will have a good chance of topping the podium this weekend. Biaggi has tested at Misano a few times this year, and he did the double at the Italian track in 2010.
“It's a track that I like and where we have ridden well, since it is our 2011 test track,” Biaggi said. “It won't be easy to repeat the double win from last year, but a positive result would be truly important for our championship. The support from a lot of Italian supporters will undoubtedly help me forget my aches and pains."
Biaggi is still a bit banged up from his crash at MMP, and will be racing this weekend with sore ribs. But with more than 60 points separating him from the top of the standings, Biaggi will have to bite the bullet and fight through the pain if he wants a chance to win back-to-back titles.
