World Superbike: Monza Video Recap

World_Superbike_Monza_GridThe World Superbike riders just finished up an exciting weekend at Monza. Max Biaggi set a few records, Eugene Laverty won a few races, and the gap toward top rider Carlos Checa grew a little smaller.

The Monza event was an exiting round that saw Eugene Laverty take his first ever World Superbike win. Laverty earned his second career win just a few hours later, and launched himself toward the top of the standings where he is now a true contender for the 2011 World Superbike title.

Here’s the video from the first World Superbike race at Monza.

After finishing second in race 1, Max Biaggi was determined to claim his first victory of the season. But the 2010 champion was given a controversial penalty that dropped him from 1st to 12th. Biaggi’s penalty opened the door for Laverty to take his second win of the day.

Here’s the video from the second World Superbike race.

After doing the double at Monza, Eugene Laverty sat down to talk to reporters. Laverty said after the race:

"I can't believe I got a double victory today. My aim coming here this weekend was to get a podium and now I'm coming away with two wins. It's an incredible feeling. It’s great for the team, to get the 1-2. I’ve already been told that the beers on my tonight.”
