Marco Melandri has just undergone surgery on his right shoulder. Melandri has been complaining about pain in his shoulder for the last month, and finally had his shoulder scanned last week. The details about Melandri's surgery are sketchy at the moment, but the World Superbike rider tweeted earlier that "surgery on rt shoulder went well... long way to work to be fit for round 1."
Melandri has been updating his status on Twitter for the last couple of days, waffling from severe pain, to feeling fine. Melandri doesn't seem to be taking any chances, however, as he has decided to have the surgery now in order to give him time to recover before the start of the season.
Melandri will have two months to recover before he has to take to the track at the opening round of the 2011 World Superbike season on February 25-27 at Phillip Island.
