Toseland to BMW Italia for 2011

wsb_toselandJames Toseland will be joining the BMW Motorrad Italia team for the 2011 World Superbike season.

Toseland, who finished this year's WSBK season in ninth with Yamaha, has two World Superbike championships to his name. Toseland will be joining Ayrton Badovini, who raced with BMW Italia during the Superstock 1000 Cup.

"BMW has it in its DNA to constantly seek maximum performance and innovative solutions, comparisons and teamwork, respect and trust, as well as a clear strategic orientation towards the objective," says Christian Kremer, CEO of BMW Group Italia. "We will be entering the FIM Superbike World Championship with the same professionalism and enthusiasm demonstrated to date; and we are sure that this effort will lead to new and important results."

The BMW Italia team will receive technical sport from the BMW Factory team, which will be running Troy Corser and Leon Haslam.

"The injuries I had were frustrating because they took longer the heal than I expected," said Toseland. "I want to take the positives from this year into the new team and progress from there. I’ve got a least two guys working with me from the Xerox Ducati squad, guys who I worked with when I won the championship in 2004 so I know my team is good. As a team they’ve got a lot of experience of working with different bikes which I think will be a major strength for us next year.”
