Next year, Cal Crutchlow will say goodbye to the World Superbike series as he enters into the MotoGP. But Crutchlow is looking to go out in the best possibile way, and started his quest for the top of the podium by claiming the pole position at Magny Cours.
Crutchlow broke the lap record at Magny Cours with a 1'37.699 time, claiming his 6th pole position this season. Crutchlow has only been able to claim two victories this year, but will be racing all out tomorrow for one final win in the World Superbike series during tomorrow's race.
Sylvain Guintoli was also impressive on the Magny Cours track. Guintoli claimed his best starting position of the season with second place, just a tenth of a second behind Crutchlow.
Two Aprilia riders finished next. Jakub Smrz took the third place spot, followed by the recently crowned champ, Max Biaggi. Aprilia is currently fighting for the 2010 WSB Factory championship, and by the look of the starting grid, should have no trouble maintaining their 40 point lead over Ducati.
The second row will be led by Michel Fabrizzio, followed by Joanathan Rea, Carlos Checa, and Noriyuki Haga.
