Pata B&G Racing Switches to Aprilia for BRNO

wsbk_smrz_apriliaThe Pata B&G racing team, which has been using Ducati machines for the 2010 World Superbike series, will be switching to an Aprilia motorcycle at BRNO. The Pata B&G racing team will use a Aprilia RSV4 for the remainder of the WSBK season.

Team managers Marco Borciani and Mirco Guandalini said that the switch was made to give Jakub Smrz the motorcycle he needed to compete for the top positions in the remaining rounds of the WSBK. Borciani and Guandalini say that they have big ambitions for the second half of the season.

Lorenzo Baroni will continue to ride a Ducati 1198 R in the Superstock 1000 division.

"We really wanted to reach this deal," Borciani and Guandalini said in a press release. "We are confident that as a result of this collaboration, we will be able to prepare for Smrz the best machine in Superbike, if we look at the overall standings. However, changing will not be easy, but we are working very hard in order for us to be at our best at Brno, where we will be in three days time. I'm sure this change will be exciting for our rider too, who has been slowed down by technical issues lately and his hard work did not bear fruit”

The Aprilia RSV4 is currently being ridden by Max Biaggi with the Aprilia Alitalia Racing team. Biaggi has won 8 races during the 2010 WSBK and currently sits at the top of the leader board.
