Eugene Laverty has the most wins in the 2010 World Supersport , but he hasn't led in the WSS standings since the opening round. But with Laverty's fifth WSS win at Misano, he finally reclaims the top spot.
Laverty captured the lead in the third round, and from there, he grew the gap to just over four seconds. Laverty crossed the finish line ahead of Joan Lascorz and Kenan Sofuoglu.
Lascorz and Sofuoglu battled for second, with Sofuoglu making numerous passes. But every time Sofuoglu took the lead, he had to put on the brakes, which allowed for Lascorz to take second place.
Chaz Davies took his Triumph to fourth, fighting off the wildcard rider, Robert Tamburini.
Michele Pirro, who claimed the pole position, crashed out of contention today, along with Gino Rea.
Laverty moves up into first place with 161 points. Laverty is only 3 points ahead of Sofuoglu with 158, and 13 ahead of Lascorz with 148.
