Cal Crtuclow set the pace during the first qualifying session of the World Superbike in Misano, finishing ahead of Troy Corser and Leon Haslam.
Crutchlow set his best time late in the session, denying Corser's bid for a perfect day. Corser was at the top of the timesheets during both free practice sessions, but Crutchlow's 1'36.288 lap knocked Corser down to second place.
Corser might have been able to get back to the top of the timesheet, but his progress was slowed with a mid session crash.
Haslam was able to hold off Michel Farbizio for third place, while Carlos Checa took fifth, just ahead of season leader Max Biaggi.
