The World Superbike riders will return from their three week hiatus to race around the historic Misano track at the 8th round of the 2010 WSB season. The riders are returning from America, where Max Biaggi took the double at Miller Sports Park.
Biaggi's double at Miller was his third double win of the season, and gave him enough points to overtake Leon Haslam. Biaggi now sits with 257 points, just 15 points ahead of Haslam. Behind Biaggi and Haslam there is a considerable gap, with Jonathan Rea 91 points back. Rea took a race win last year at Misano, and will be looking to close the gap on Biaggi and Haslam.
Biaggi and Haslam both took advantage of the testing at Misano, but it was the Yamaha Sterilgarda team that truly impressed. James Toseland and Cal Crutchlow were the fastest around the Misano track, but neither of them have claimed a race win yet this season.
The Ducati Xerox team of Michel Fabrizio and Noriyuki Haga have been hit or miss this season. Both Ducati riders have taken wins this season, and Haga found his 109th career podium at Miller Sports Park.
“I’m hopeful that after the podium at Salt Lake, things are getting back on track for us. We had a tiring but productive time at WDW (World Ducati Week) and I’m now looking forward to the Misano race with confidence," said Haga.
