A struggling Michel Fabrizio got his first pole position of the World Superbike season as he turns in a lap time of 1’43.737. Fabrizio was the only rider to break the 1’44 barrier in either qualifying session.
Another day with a wet track left riders with only a few opportunities to set fast laps. The track started to dry halfway through the race, and the second half of Q2 was filled with fast laps around the track.
Fabrizio set the fastest time of the weekend thus far, but Jonathon Rea wasn’t far behind. Rea, who is coming off of a double victory at Assen, finished just a few tenths of a second behind Fabrizio.
Aprilia riders Max Biaggi and Leon Camier took third and fourth, as Jakub Smrz finished off the top five.
Yoshimura Suzuki rider, Daisaku Sukai, who was making his debut for both his team and himself at the World SBK this weekend, failed to qualify for Superpole.
