Chris Vermeulen is anxious to get back on his bike. Vermeulen suffered a crash at Phillip Island that injured his knee. He was hopeful that he would be back in action by the time Portimao rolled around, but after an exploratory lap, Vermeulen decided that his body was not ready for the rigors of World Superbike racing. Vermeulen recently announced that he will also be sitting out at Valencia. Vermeulen has been keeping his fans up to date on his injury through videos he has posted on his website.
“I was going to struggle to get on a bike in Valencia so the doctors decided to go in and have a look at my knee with an arthroscopy operation,” he said in a video. “I had it done on Friday in Belgium and the doctor was glad he had a look, as there seems to be more damage than the scans had shown.

“I have to be on crutches for a few days, put ice on the knee and keep the weight off it but the doctor thinks I should make a recovery quite quickly. Unfortunately I will miss the race in Valencia because the operation is so close, but the doctor is confident I'll be fit for Assen.”
Simon Andrews is expected to replace Vermeulen for the third round of the WSBK at Valencia.
