2010 World Superbike Standings - Phillip Island Results

World Superbike Phillip IslandPhillip Island, Australia, hosted the first races of the World Superbike Championship last weekend. Veteran riders Leon Haslam and Carlos Checa, who were both riding their maiden races for teams Suzuki Alstare and Ducati Xeorx, found themselves standing at the top of the podium at one point over the weekend. Haslam, however, walked away as the big winner with the overall point total.

Haslam beat out Michele Fabrizio in the first race by a mere four thousandths of a second, but was on the losing end of a close finish during race two, where Checa took the first spot.

A win and a close second place finish put Haslam ahead of the pack with 45 points. Checa, who finished seventh in race one, earned 34 points which places him in third place.

Michele Fabrizio made the podium in both races, finishing second in race one and third in race two, earned a total of 36 points over the weekend to give him the second place spot.

Ducati, who saw its riders in spots two through four, sits on top of the point standings with 45 points. Suzuki, who also has 45 points, had riders in the first and fifth place spot
