After Surgery, Hopkins Could Miss Cadwell Park

john_hopkins_injuredJohn Hopkins is currently in second place in the British Superbike standings, 24 points behind series leader Shane Byrne. But Hopkins could see his second place standing slip away as he may not be fit to race next weekend at Cadwell Park.

During the British Superbike break, Hopkins took a wildcard spot with the Rizla Suzuki team to race in the MotoGP at BRNO. Unfortunately, Hopkins return to the MotoGP wasn't successful as the American crashed out and injured his hand.

hopkins_injuryHopkins had surgery on his hand earlier this week, and now has less than two days to recover before Cadwell Park.

Today's surgery went very well but the injury itself was much worse than what we originally expected," Hopkins said on Twitter. "Exact recovery time and when I will be back on the bike is yet to be determined but I can say I will be 100% or close to by Donington park!"

Donnington? What about Cadwell?

The good news is that Hopkins has already qualifed for the British Superbike showdown. If Hopkins does miss Cadwell Park, he'll miss out on some valuable points, but not on the title fight. The American rider will still be able to compete against the rest of the title fighters during final three rounds for the British Superbike Championship.
