After a rough start to the weekend, Tommy Hill ended up on the top of the podium at the end of the final race at Brands Hatch. Hill beat out John Hopkins during the third race to secure his position as a title fighter before the Cadwell Park round.
"That was probably the best ride of my season," Hill said. "I knew I needed to get off the line and Hopper and Shakey kept the pressure on me.
"I just had to bite the screen and keep pushing to try and get a bit of an advantage. The three of us keep raising the bar and we just need to keep doing that at every round."
Hill was joined by Hopkins and Byrne on the podium at the end of the final race. Hill, Hopkins, and Byrne are the top three riders in the British Superbike standings. All three riders have now secured their positions as title fighters as the series heads to the final round before the title showdown.
"We are in the top six now and we can concentrate on the podium credits at Cadwell Park and then fighting for the wins over the final three rounds," Hill said. "I need to thank the Swan Yamaha team, it was a shame about yesterday but now we are looking forward to Cadwell Park and the Showdown."
The final three spots are currently held by Michael Laverty, Josh Brookes, and Ryuichi Kiyonari. The British Superbike series will head to Cadwell Park before the final three races of the showdown, where the top 6 riders will fight for the championship.
Michael Rutter is just 5 points out of the top 6 behind Kiyonari. Gary Mason and Jon Kirkham could also find their way into the top 6 next weekend.
