Qualification to become the pole position holder differs from country to country.
In the US, the exciting Superpole single lap timed system is used one lap to warm up one lap as fast as you can and then a slowing down lap.
In the United Kingdom, Superpole was used for years but this year it's the qualifying Q1-to-Q3 system.
Basically 30 riders go out on the track and go hell-for leather. Q1 picks off the slowest 10 then Q2 then next 10, leaving the final ten to scrap it out for 1st 2nd and 3rd.
Sylvain Guintoli, Steve Plater and Stuart Easton ended up on the top of the qualifying final round and tomorrow's race which will be a huge battle to the first blind corner as ever at Brands Hatch in Kent.
