The British Superbike season resumed today at Mallory Park, with Tommy Hill and Michael Laverty providing a fierce and entertaining battle.
Hill started the day with a win in the first free practice session, .14 seconds ahead of Laverty. The other Laverty, John, finished .19 seconds behind his brother.
The top 12 riders during the first free practice session were within one second of each other.
Ryuichi Kiyonari, who is coming off his first win of the season at Cadwell park, took fourth during FP 1, followed by Yukio Kagayama.
The second free practice session saw Hill and Laverty battling for the top spot again, but this time Laverty would find himself in control. Laverty took the lead in the final ten minutes, and Hill was not able to reclaim the title.
Kiyonari and John Laverty also switched places, with Kiyonari claiming third in the second practice session, and Laverty taking fourth.
