King Kiyo Takes BSBK Win at Cadwell Park

bsbk_kyonariRyuichi Kiyonari took his first win of the season today during the opening race of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park.

Kiyonari took off from the second row of the grid, but his quick start put him in immediate contention for the race win. Stuart Easton took a crash out of fourth place position, and then season leader Tommy Hill took a fall while pursuing behind Kiyonari.

With Easton and Hill down, Kiyonari set his sights on Michael Rutter and Micahel Laverty. Kiyonari and Laverty switched the lead twice on the final lap, but Kiyonari turned on the speed on the straight away, and claimed his first BSBK win of the season.

"I am so happy to win at this track for HM Plant Honda as it was my goal as I have never won here before. It was a good race and I was consistent with my lap times but with three laps to go I went wide at the Mountain and was on the grass and almost high-sided, but then I came back as I didn't want to finish second!" said Kiyonari. "I want to thank the team for their hard work and we will see if we can do it again in race two."
