Suart Easton and Michael Rutter battled throughout the first free practice session, with Easton getting the best of Rutter and taking the win during FP1. Rutter had similiar competition at the second round of the day, but this time Rutter took top honors.
Rutter had to fight to take the lead ahead of Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes. Rutter set a time of 1.28.009 seconds, just .24 seconds ahead of Hill, and .6 seconds ahead of Brookes.
Outside the top three, the competition was equally close, with the top seven riders finishing within a second of Rutter.
Ryuichi Kiyonara took a fourth place finish behind Brookes, and Michael Laverty was the first of the Laverty brothers to cross the line in fifth.
