Hobbs Back in British Supersport
AllAboutBikes.com Staff

Motorbike enthusiasts will be happy to learn of the return of Dennis Hobbs to the British Supersport. After a terrible crash at Thruxton left Hobbs with a serious shoulder injury, he has worked his way back onto the circuit. That was back in April, and he missed practically all of the 2008 season as a result. Months of training and rehabilitation have paid off at last. Fitness has been a focus, and Hobbs seems ready to get back to business as usual.
It has been reported that Dennis Hobbs will be all set to go for the upcoming British Supersport season. He will be riding for Alastair Flanagan's AIM Yamaha team. Reports show that Hobbs is happy to have joined such a great team for the 2009 season. It should be a really good chance for Hobbs and the team to win the 2009 British Supersport Championship. We will see how things go for him after such a serious accident sidelined him for so long. Hobbs was close to the title all the way back in 2007, but he did not quite reach the top. Then there was last year's accident in Thruxton. It was so grave that he needed to have a nerve transplant.
All evidence points to a healthy return for this skilled rider. Recovery has been a slow process, but Dennis Hobbs has been training hard to get his fitness back so that he can compete this season. For a while, it looked like he might be able to return to his old team. Centurion Racing was where he used to compete, but the talks did not materialize into a deal. After some speculation as to whether or not he would return to Centurion, they decided to split up for the 2009 season. Hobbs has expressed his gratitude to his former team for all the support that he received during the last part of his career and during his recovery period.
The motorcycle racing industry can be tough some times, and Dennis Hobbs knows that just as well as anyone. He has shown resilience, and now he is raring to go for the AIM Yamaha team who picked him up. It looks like he will racing on the team's R6. It is a new bike for him to get used to throughout the year, but it should be a good fit. Just last year Steve Plater showed that the Yamaha can win. After winning so many races at such a high level, it will be interesting to see how Hobbs performs in the 2009 season. A championship is within his capability, but we will have to wait and see.
