Scassa to Miss Misano Round

luca_scassaLuca Scassa, the current World Supersport leader, will not be allowed to compete in the upcoming World Supersport race at Misano. Scassa broke an FIM rule by riding at the circuit during an unofficial time, and has been suspended for one race.

Scassa apparently rode a standard R1 at the Misano track earlier this year instead of at Yamaha ParkinGo’s designated testing circuit at Motorland Aragon. The incident occurred while Scassa was riding as an instructor.

Scassa won the first two races of the 2011 World Supersport series, and now sits in a tie for first with his teammate Chaz Davies. Davies will more than likely take the series lead at Misano. Broc Parkes, who is just 10 points behind the leaders, could also move ahead of Scassa after Misano.
