Eugene Laverty shortened the gap between himself and season leader Kenan Sofuoglu, pulling within 17 points after a phenomenal World Supersport victory at Silverstone.
Laverty led for the majority of the race, but let Sofuoglu take the lead toward the end. It wasn't until the final lap that Laverty was able to regain the lead, and crossed the finish line in first for his 6th WSS win in the past ten races.
The battle for the WSS title is heating up with just three races to go, but it looks like the three man battle was cut down to two today, after Joan Lascorz was inured during a bad accident at the beginning of the race.
Lascorz and Roberto Tamburini got tangled up at the start, and both riders were flung to the pavement. Tamburini crashed into the barrier, and Lascorz's bike caught fire. Both riders were taken to the medical center, where it was discovered that Tamburini had broken his collar bone and Lascorz had a concussion.
Behind Sofuoglu came Jonathan Rea, who achieved his first podium finish of the 2010 World Supersport season.
