Katsuaki Fujiwara was on pace to take his first pole position in 7 years. But Joan Lascorz managed to sneak past Fujiwara, taking his second pole of the season by .017 seconds.
Fujiwara was the fastest around the track during Q1, and looked to be on track to take the Q2 win as well. Fujiwara dropped to second behind his Kawasaki teammate on the last lap, giving the Kawasaki Motocard team a 1-2 finish.
Lascorz has qualified no lower than fifth this season, but this will only be the second time he will start on the front of the grid.
Lascorz and Fujiwara will be joined by championship leader Eugene Laverty and Fabien Foret on the front row.
Kenan Sofuoglu took fifth ahead of teammate Michele Pirro. While Geno Rea, and Chaz Davies complete row two.
