Vittorio Iannuzzo, who has been racing at the World Superbike level so far this season, has announced that he will be moving down to the Supersport class for the remainder of the 2010 season. Iannuzzo just signed a deal with the Triumph BE1 racing team, and will be replacing supersport rider Jason DiSalvo. DiSalvo recently decided to leave the Triumph BE1 team, saying that Triumph's decision to run a four man squad, left him with limited resources.
Iannuzzo, who has raced at the WSB level since 2006, has only scored 27 points this season for the Squadra Corse Honda team.
"I was close to signing with the team two years ago, now we've finally reached the deal,” said Iannuzzo. “I'm sure I can score important results and I will work hard to get to grips with the bike as soon as possible."
“I haven't raced in Supersport for 5 years, my last season in the competition was in fact in the seat of a Suzuki, racing for team Alstare, where I scored great results. Now that I have more experience, I'm confident I can do even better.”
Iannuzzo will be racing for Triumph BE1 this weekend at Misano. Squadra Corse Honda has yet to make any announcements of how they will proceed with their Superbike team.
