Eugene Laverty kicked off the American stretch of the World Supersport at Miller Motorsports park with the fastest lap time around the track at the first qualifying session.
Laverty finished with a 1'51.652 second lap, just a half a second ahead of Joan Lascorz. Lascorz is only four points behind Laverty in the overall standings, despite the fact that Laverty has four race wins this season.
The season leader, Kenan Sofuoglu, who is just one point ahead of Laverty, finished 6th for the day.
David Salom finished off the podium with a third place finish, and Fabien Foret, who led for most of the day at Miller Motorsports park, came in fourth.
