The World Supersport got off to a wet start today at Monza, but as the track heated up, so did the lap times. Eugene Laverty was fastest around the wet track in the free practice session, and was able to hold on to the top spot during the first qualifying session by two tenths of a second.
David Salom was the one to put the most pressure on the Irishman. Salom’s efforts on his Triumph continues to impress the World Supersport crowd, and he continues to climb up the podium. Salom suffered a fall late in the qualifying session, but not until he put in a lap that would secure a second place finish.
The season leader, Joan Lascorz, finished third behind Slalom, just edging out fellow Kawasaki rider Fabien Foret. Ten Kate Honda took the fifth and sixth position with Kenan Sofuoglu and Michele Pirro.
