Kenan Sofuoglu has been untouchable around the Circuit Van Drenthe in Assen this weekend. Sofuoglu was ahead of the pack during both of the free practice sessions, won the first qualifying of the weekend, and now, Sofuoglu has claimed the pole position with a 1’37.908 second lap around the Assen track. Sofuoglu is second in the overall World Supersport standings, but judging by his performance this weekend, Sofuoglu has his eyes set on first place and will look to overtake Joan Lascorz who only sits four points ahead of Sofuoglu.
Eugene Laverty finished a half of a second behind Sofuoglu to claim second at the last qualifying session at Assen. Laverty is third in the overall standings, but puts himself in a good position to make a move tomorrow.
Michele Pirro takes the last spot on the podium, just one tenth of a second ahead of the overall leader Lascorz. Lascorz may have missed the podium today, but his fourth place finish will give him the last spot on the front row of the grid.
Fabien Foret closes out the top five, and Mathieu Lagrive was the top Triump finisher in 6th.
