Eugene Laverty (Parkalgar Honda) was the favorite to win today’s race and claim the pole position for tomorrow’s event at Portimao. But he didn’t have an easy time securing the win.
Kenan Sofuoglu (Ten Kate Honda) stayed close with the Irishmen throughout the 45 minute event today. The two Honda riders swapped the top spot five times until Sofuoglu suffered a fall on the last lap, allowing the Irish rider to move into 1st place.
Sofuoglu still gets the second place finish, and will look to make up for his fall today during the WSS race tomorrow at Portimao.
Behind the two top riders, the battle for third was just as close. Michelle Pirro (Ten 
Kate Honda) and Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Motorcard.com) battled throughout the day, but Pirro eventually came out on top. Fabien Foret (Lorenzini by Leoni) made a late push to surpass the Kawasaki riding Lascorz, but Lascorz managed to hold onto his fourth place finish.
Chaz Davies continues to impress with a strong finish on the Triumph Daytona 675 to bring him into 6th place.
