Laverty Claims Provisional Pole - WSS Qaulafying Session Day 1 - Portimao

It might only be the beginning of the second round in the World Supersport championships, but Eugene Laverty is proving to be the man to beat. His dominant performance at Phillip Island was reiterated today as Laverty was the quickest around the track with a 1’45.797 time.

Laverty was unimpressive during the practice sessions, coming in at 6th place, but the Parkalgar Honda rider picked up the speed in front of his home crowd to take the provisional pole.

Laverty was followed closely by two Ten Kate Honda riders. Michelle Piro came in second with a 1’46.027 time and Kenan Sofuoglu came in third with 1’46.116.

Chaz Davies rode his Triumph Daytona 675 into an impressive fourth place, and the top Kawasaki rider was Joan Lascorz who came in fifth.
