Jake Gagne did the double this weekend around the Sachsenring track for the Red Bull Rookies Cup. The 16 year old Californian beat out Brad Binder and Daijiro Hiura for his second win of the weekend.
Gagne took the points lead for the Red Bull Rookies Cup as the top two riders, Danny Kent and Daniel Ruiz, both crashed during race two. Kent was able to remount and finish in 12th, but he drops down to second, 14 points behind Gagne. Ruiz is now in third, 10 points behind Kent, but still 4 points ahead of Hiura.
“I was pretty confident I could do it again,” said Gagne. “It was a good race yesterday and there was no reason why it should be different. At one point Brad and I got away from the others a bit but I wasn't too surprised when they closed back up again."
Binder had a solid weekend, finishing on the podium in both races.
"On the last lap I really wanted to have a go at Jake but he was just too good today... next time,” Binder said.
