At the end of today's Red Bull Rookies Cup race in Mugello, there was an 8 rider battle for first place. Daijuro Hiura made the most out of the last turn, to give himself the lead going into the final stretch. Hiura, 15, finished just ahead of 17 year old Mathew Scholtz. 14 year old Brad Binder took the last spot on the podium.
Danny Kent, who was leading going into today's race, finished just off of the podium. Kent drops down to second place in the overall standings, just 3 points behind Hiura.
"We had a great race and it was impossible to break away. Mathew and I bumped going to the last corner but I braked so so late and still managed to get round OK and in the lead. Then I just went for the line,” said Hiura.
