Isle of Man TT Press Release

Isle of Man TT Cummins

Isle of Man TT star Conor Cummins is celebrating after not only taking his first international road race win, but also becoming the fastest man in the sport.
The Manxman destroyed the existing lap record at Northern Ireland’s Dundrod Circuit with an astonishing average speed of 133.282mph. The amazing lap record was set on the final lap of the feature Superbike race during the Dundrod 150.
Fellow TT stars Guy Martin, Bruce Anstey and Ian Hutchinson, a two-time winner around the Mountain circuit in 2009, also set lap records during the spectacular race, but Cummins was the fastest.
The McAdoo Kawasaki rider’s blistering pace was enough to see off the challenges from Martin and Hutchy, but only by 0.601 of a second.
Just two days later Cummins was celebrating again with his first international road race victory. After scoring a spectacular podium finish in the blue riband Senior TT in June, the Ramsey man proved he is still in form with victory in main Ulster Grand Prix Superbike race.
Once again, Cummins had to battle right down to the checkered flag, with Anstey, Martin, Hutchinson and Gary Johnson all vying for honors in the eight-lap epic.
Hutchinson went into the last lap in seventh, but was up to a magnificent second place when the flag fell, just 0.136 of a second behind Cummins, with Martin third.
The Dundrod 150 and Ulster GP were rounds 20 and 21 of the Duke Road Race Rankings, and once again Ryan Farquhar pulled out all the stops to consolidate his lead in the standings. Success for Cummins, Martin and Johnson at the meetings also saw the trio shoot up the rankings.
Farquhar now has 4,314 points, with Michael Dunlop second on 2,265 and brother William third on 1,792.
