The 2011 Isle of Man TT is closer than you think. In less than two months, some of the greatest road racers around the world will head to the mountain course to compete at the IOMTT. Leading the pack will be 15 time champion John McGuinness, who will be using the coveted number one plate this year.
McGuinness will be riding from the number one spot at all five of the solo races around the mountain course. McGuinness will be riding with the Honda TT Legends team in the Dainese Superbike, Royal London 360 Superstock and PokerStars Senior races, and the Padgetts Honda outfit for the two Monster Energy Supersport Races.
McGuinness is one of the most accomplished riders at the Isle of Man, and has put in more 130+ mph laps around the mountain course than anyone in IOMTT history. McGuinness was forced to retire from both Superbike races last year, but will set out in 2011 to become the winningest rider in TT history.
McGuinness will line up next to fellow TT legends Keith Armor and Guy Martin, who will line up in the second and third spot respectively. Last year's multiple TT winner Ian Hutchinson will line up in the fourth place spot.
The competition at the TT this year will be tough. Not only do you have legends like McGuinness, Armor, and Martin, but the TT this year has more than 50 riders who have put in laps above 120 mph. Ryan Farquhar, Adrian Archibald, Michael Dunlop, and Cameron Donald are just a few riders who could challenge for TT wins this year.
