British Superbike star, Simon Andrews, will be making his Isle of Man TT debut this year with Paul Shoesmith’s Ice Valley BMW team. Andrews will be riding a BMW S1000RR Superstock when he takes to the mountain course. Andrews is scheduled to compete in the Dainese Superbike, Royal London 360 Superstock and PokerStars Senior TT races.

“I went to the TT in ’97 with my father and just thought it was a great atmosphere," Andrews said. "It’s like nothing else and I thought then, this is something I need to tick off the list. Motorcycling opens so many doors and you need to take the opportunities when they are there.”

This will be Andrews first time racing at the Isle of Man, but it isn't his first road race. Andrews competed at the Macau Grand Prix in 2009, where he finished 7th in his debut.

Andrews has been riding in the British Supersport or British Superbike series since 2002. He's also raced as a wildcard in the World Superbike series the last couple of years, and filled in for Chris Vermeulen at Valencia last year.

“This is a real coup for the TT as Simon has a great track record on circuits and his proven road racing experience at Macau will also stand him in good stead," said TT rider liaison officer Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle. "He’s one of the most talented British riders at the moment and we’re really excited at the prospect of him racing on the Isle of Man.”

Andrews will also be competing on Kawasaki’s new ZX-10R for the PR Racing in the 2011 Evo class in BSB.
