After an historic Isle of Man TT, MotoGP season leader, Jorge Lorenzo, took an honorary lap around the mountain track. Lorenzo was joined by Loris Capirossi and GP legend Angel Nieto, although Nieto declined the opportunity to navigate the mountain course.
Nieto, who won 13 World Championships in his racing career, and who competed at the TT in 1968, reveled in the atmosphere of the Isle of man.
"It was a great honour to come back to such a great and historic place as a guest of Dainese,” said Nieto. “I have strong memories from my time here a long time ago and it is great to come back and see the TT so healthy. It was great to show Jorge the TT and I'm glad he enjoyed so much. For us both it was a very special experience."
Lorenzo was equally impressed.
“What an amazing experience. Now I understand why people enjoy the experience of riding at the TT," said Lorenzo. I have read all about the TT in magazine and have seen TV programmes - but nothing can prepare you for the real experience."
Capirossi led a Suzuki parade around the mountain course, as Suzuki was celebrating their 50th anniversary of international racing.
"This place is incredible,” said Capirossi. “I've seen the TV footage before, but nothing prepares you for the TT course. The surface is much bumpier than I imagined and when you see the speeds that these guys run at, it is simply amazing. It's a fantastic event that you could never replicate anywhere else in the world."
