TT Zero Shows Electric Speed on Mountain Course Hot

iomtt_zeroThe 2010 TT Zero bikes got out on the mountain course for the first time today, after a heavily delayed day of racing. Ten electric motorcycles will be competing in the IOMTT zero races this year.

The TT Zero will feature teams from London, The United States, Austria, Germany, Sweden, and the local Isle of Man team.

Teams will be competing for race wins, but also for the 10,000 pound prize that the Isle of Man government will give to the first team to break the 100 mph lap.

Mark Miller was the closest to setting the 100 mph lap at the first qualifying, riding his MotoCzysz E1PC to 93.390 mph to Glen Helen, before really turning on the speed to clock in at just below the 100 mph mark at 99.520 mph.

Team Agni's Rob Barber, who is the defending champion, set a 96.670 mph pace, and ended with the fastest lap of 84.857 mph.

The next TT Zero practice will be on Monday, with the first race scheduled for June 9th.
