Hutchinson Takes the Win at the IOMTT

iomtt_hutchinsonRace day at the Isle of Man TT was plagued by bad weather and heavy fog, but when the weather cleared up, the PokerStars Superbike race took off in dramatic fashion, with Ian Hutchinson ultimately coming out on top.

But at the start of the race, it was Conor Cummins who seemed to be destined for the win. Cummins jumped off the line, setting a blistering fast pace of 131.511 mph, nearly claiming the fastest time in IOMTT history. Cummins had a 21 second lead on the fourth lap, but problems at the second pit stop saw his lead drop down to four seconds.

More mechanical trouble would plague Cummins, as a charging Hutchinson took the lead. With a 50 second gap between Hutchinson and Michael Dunlop, Hutchinson just head to finish the mountain course to claim his fourth win at the Isle of Man TT, and his first in the premier class.

“The bike is the best superbike I have ever ridden. I was pushing hard in places where I felt good. This has been the one I wanted  and it is good to get it eventually,” said Hutchinson.

Cameron Donald finished just 10 seconds behind Dunlop for a third place finish.
