Hayden: Focused on Indy Hot

MotoGP: There is only one thing on Nicky Hayden’s mind at present, the second ever Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix

MotoGP Press Release

Last year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a hurricane coincided with MotoGP’s first ever visit to the famous American venue, but this year it is Ducati’s Nicky Hayden who is hoping to cause a storm at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Given his frustrating year so far a Hayden victory at the Brickyard would be a surprise, but in the tricky conditions last season the tough Kentuckian battled to second place in a curtailed race – sending the American fans into ecstasy, just as he did with his famous 2005 and 2006 wins on U.S. soil at Laguna Seca.

“Indy is a great place and for racing it is just so famous,” Hayden stated. “Obviously the track last year was really good to me and it’s a really challenging circuit with different types of layout. We go there to do the maximum, that’s all we can do.”

The patriotic Hayden had a best result of this year in fifth place at Laguna, and he is steadily finding some consistency on the Desmosedici, having finished sixth last weekend at Brno – his second best result to date with the Italian factory team.

Looking ahead to the 28th-30th August Indy weekend, he added, “Sure I would like to say I am going there full of confidence, and everything is perfect but that’s not exactly the case. Anyway I’m looking forward to getting home, seeing all my fans, seeing all my people and seeing what we can do.”
