The action of the 2009 FIM MotoGP World Championship resumes at Brno in the Czech Republic this weekend, after a two-week break. The 11th round of a 17-round battle is sure to have its share of excitement as riders desperately try to make up for mishaps and misfortunes from earlier in the season.
After a historic last visit to Donington Park, Valentino Rossi even further increased his lead, while only finishing fifth. Plagued by a series of unfortunate events, Rossi still managed to come out ahead of his closest competitors.
Jorge Lorenzo, Rossi's Fiat Yamaha team-mate, has been right on the heels of Rossi the whole season, but fell succumb to the circumstances at Donington, ending with his second DNF of the season.
Ducati rider, Casey Stoner, has announced that he will miss the next three races due to an illness. Stoner would have come into Donington trailing by 37 points; his absence in the next three races terminates any chances he had at the championship title.
After a stellar performance at Laguna, Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa finished ninth at Donington after starting second on the grid. Pedrosa currently sits fourth in standings. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards finished second at Donington and hopes to increase his fifth place standings in the final races of the season.
