This weekend, MotoGP bids farewell to Donington Park as a stop on the Championship circuit. Donington has been a stop for the Grand Prix since 1987. Known for a lack of fair weather, the outlook, according to weather.com, for this weekend is rain on Friday, which isn’t surprising, but Saturday and Sunday will be near 70 and partly cloudy.
Valentino Rossi has seven wins at Donington, but came up short the past three seasons. A home race for James Toseland, who currently sits in 14th in championship points, might give him the motivation for a performance that will help him step up in championship points.
The team to beat this season is Fiat Yamaha, with riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, finishing last weekend’s race at Sachsenring in the one and two spot. Consequently, only fourteen points separate the two in championship points. Casey Stoner, the Ducati Marlboro rider, sits fourteen points behind the Fiat Yamaha boys.
