In 2012 F.I.M. will have their 64th Road Racing World Championship season. Casey Stoner is starting out as the defending MotoGP World Champion.
Portugal in 2012
This is an 18-race provisional calendar. The FIM has confirmed that the 2012 Grande Premio de Portugal at Estoril will be part of the MotoGP race calendar on May 4th, 5th and 6th.
Class Changes
There are two major changes for the 2012 racing season. In the MotoGP class riders can have bikes with up to 1,000 cc (61 cu in) in capacity, 4 cylinders, and a 81 mm (3.2 in) maximum cylinder bore.
For the Moto3 class, four-stroke bikes will be permitted.
